The agony and ecstasy of ceramics. I was given this white glaze that I absolutely love. It's such a creamy bright white. Sadly, it does not like me. I've made a few items with it and it doesn't matter if I thin it, put it on hand built or moulded pieces, it cracks. Two mugs that looked fine when I unloaded the kiln spontaneously blew apart the next day. So I have just tested these two mugs with boiling water and they both cracked and I have wet counters. A shame as they were quite lovely.(if I do say so myself)

Final kiln opening before next weekend's Victoria County Studio Tour. Lots of new work to debut. This big bowl is the first of six to actually survive a firing. Will be busy this week, setting up to be ready for visitors. Look forward to seeing everyone.

I finished my throwing course a few weeks ago and on Thursday our group picked up our pieces and then went out for dinner. I have some bowls and this cute little mug. We hope to keep in touch. After my upcoming show, I hope to practice some more.

Here are the images I took to remind myself how my shelves are loaded as I will have to reload them. My last firing was a fail as it turns out I had done over 250 firings since I got this kiln rather than the "about" 50 I guessed I'd done. How did I find out the number? From the place I bought the kiln? Nope. From a fellow potter who shared her knowledge. There is a community of potters and other artists out there that are happy to share their experiences and solutions and thank heavens for that. In this case, thanks to @sgrafiatogirl for her invaluable advice. Now off to the shops on Friday to spend way too much money on new elements etc.

The less glamorous part of making pottery. Sometimes you have to make structures to support work. I made and have already fired a lot of garden flowers and realized I didn't have any stems. Here they are, cleaned up and drying, ready for their bisque.
